Spay & Neutering
If your pet is to remain primarily a family companion, there is no question as to the benefits of having your pet spayed or neutered. Millions of puppies and kittens are euthanized each year because there are not enough homes for all the unwanted pets. These procedures are best done at 4 - 6 months of age for both sexes.
Following are some other good reasons that make spaying/neutering a positive choice:
they are less likely to fight with other cats/dogs
they are less concerned with marking territory
less desire to run away or roam to find a mate
makes a calmer, gentler pet
avoids certain health risks for females - such as pyometra
at a lower risk of breast cancer in females & prostate cancer in males
